NAZ is a registered charity (no. 1014056). The Board of Trustees is responsible for the management and strategic direction of NAZ.

The Board meets at least five times a year. All Trustees are non-executive and none of them receives remuneration from NAZ.


Our Declaration of Trust empowers the Trustees to take such steps as are necessary to achieve our objectives and make the appropriate arrangements for the sound management of the organisation and activities.


Uday Thakkar

Uday founded and manages the highly regarded and award winning social enterprise Red Ochre. Red Ochre specialises in consultancy and training for the social economy and ethical business sectors across the UK and increasingly abroad. Uday is a well known commentator on sustainability, strategy, leadership, governance and finance for the print and digital media and is a frequent speaker at conferences. Uday has started and managed a successful charity and two social enterprises as well as a number of commercial enterprises. Uday is a trustee of two other charities; the Charity Finance Group, a national infrastructure charity, and The Mayor of London’s Thames Festival Trust.

Sanjay Nazerali

Sanjay Nazerali began his career in 1985 at the British Market Research Bureau, before moving to Philip Gould & Associates, where he worked on the development of a new identity and communications platform for the Labour Party.

Sanjay has worked for MTV Europe as Senior Vice President, Marketing. In September 2007 he joined the BBC Global News as Director of Marketing, Communications & Audiences (MC&A). Responsible for leading the MC&A teams at BBC World Service, BBC World News television, BBC Monitoring and the BBC's international facing online news services. Sanjay moved to Cara Global in September 2013 as Chief Strategy Officer. Sanjay is a graduate in philosophy and modern languages from Oxford University and has an MBA from INSEAD.

Tina St Leger

Tina St Leger is global Head of HR at ViiV. Tina joined ViiV Healthcare from GSK, where she held the position of HR Business Leader for UK Pharmaceuticals. There, she took a leadership role in implementing a new business model and embedding a culture of continual process improvement across the organisation. She previously worked for the UK retailer Marks and Spencer in finance, leadership development and change management roles. Tina holds a degree in Chemistry from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland.


Suneeta Soni

Dr. Suneeta Soni is a Consultant in Sexual Health and HIV in Brighton. She is the current Chair of theMedical Board for NAZ and has worked with NAZ since 2009. Her clinical and research interests are bacterial STIs, STIs in HIV-positive individuals and testing for HIV and STIs in non-traditional settings
and has published in these areas. Suneeta also enjoys teaching and leads the undergraduate teaching for sexual health and HIV at Brighton and Sussex Medical School

Vanessa Apea

Vanessa is a Consultant in Sexual Health and HIV Medicine at Barts Health NHS Trust

Rageshri Dhairyawan

Rageshri is a Consultant in Sexual Health and HIV at barking, Havering and Redbridge NHS Trust and has worked in sexual health in East London for more than 5 years. She has a specialist interest in working with BAME communities and in outreach testing. She is also currently Chair of the BASHH Sexual Violence Group.

Nneka Nwokolo

Dr Nneka Nwokolo is a Consultant in Sexual Health and HIV Medicine at 56 Dean Street, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. She has extensive experience in the management of sexually transmitted infections and HIV infection. Her special interests include the sexual and reproductive health of HIV positive women and in particular, issues relating to contraception and the menopause.

Hamish Mohamed

Dr.Hamish Mohammed is currently a Principal STI Surveillance Scientist at Public Health England. His team manages the national surveillance system for STIs in England, and he is the Chair of the Steering Group for a pilot of enhanced surveillance for behavioural and partner notification outcomes at sexual health clinics.

Charles Mazhude

Consultant HIV/GU Physician and Lead clinician for HIV Service at Lewisham Hospital. Extensive experience in managing a large cohort of patients drawn from an inner city, high prevalence and ethnically diverse population. Interests include clinical research, training and teaching including work with service users. As a keen advocate for access and equity of care, he has been a board member of different HIV/Sexual Health charities and voluntary organisations in the past.

Charlotte Cohen

Dr Charlotte Cohen is a Consultant in Sexual Health and HIV Medicine at the West London Centre for Sexual Health. She has extensive experience of working closely with NAZ Project London, providing a dedicated Spanish speaking HIV service to Spanish and Latin American communities living with HIV in London. Her special interests include adolescent sexual and reproductive health and the safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children. In particular she has led on her organisation’s response to domestic abuse and co-developed specific training and policy in this area.

Professor Rusi Jaspal

Professor Rusi Jaspal is Chair in Psychology and Sexual Health at De Montfort University Leicester, where he is also Co-Director of the Mary Seacole Research Centre. Dr Jaspal's research explores psychological aspects of sexual health among men who have sex with men, particularly in BAME communities. His current projects focus on novel HIV prevention methods, such as post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), HIV testing, and adherence to antiretroviral therapy.
